School Committee Update

Last night's School Committee was canceled due to the lack of a forum. Mayor Sullivan, Peter Larocque and Jimmy Vittorioso were the only members who showed up. When the mayor announced that meeting was canceled ant the next one would be after the new committee was sworn in, Jimmy Vittorioso made a point of order saying the mayor could call for another meeting. The meeting will be on Tuesday, December 18.
Vittorioso action insures that the superintendents' raise will be voted by the lame duck committee. We were stunned!

Our information at 4:30 PM was as follows.

I called the Superintendent's office at 2:30 PM and spoke to his secretary Joan Malone. She said the meeting is ON and will issue an EMail.

The teachers never received that Email because the Union was not copied.

The Eagle Tribune @4:10 PM confirmed with me that the meeting is on. They also told me the state of Massachusetts shut down @12:56 and sent all non essential workers home.

It is obvious that the lame duck school committee wanted to approve the superintendent's raise with as few people in the room as possible.

This was a disgraceful act. The meeeting was a SHAM!!!
